How to Add a Lead Manually in Vedain CRM

Adding leads manually is the quickest way to get started with Vedain. Whether you met someone at an event, received a referral, or want to enter a prospect from your notes — here is how to capture a new lead in under a minute.

How to Add a New Lead

  1. Click Leads in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the + New Lead button (top right).
  3. Fill in the lead form (see field breakdown below).
  4. Click Save Lead.

Lead Form Fields Explained

Basic Information

  • First Name / Last Name — Required. The person's name.
  • Owner — Which team member is responsible for this lead. Defaults to you.
  • Company — The organisation they work for.
  • Lead Status — Where they are in your sales process (New, Contacted, Qualified, etc.).
  • Lead Source — How you found them (Website, Referral, LinkedIn, Cold Call, etc.).
  • Industry — Their business sector.
  • Rating — Hot, Warm, or Cold — your assessment of how ready they are to buy.

Contact Information

  • Email — Primary email. Used for tracking and campaigns.
  • Phone — Mobile or office number.
  • Website — Their company website.
  • Secondary Email — An alternate email address.

Professional Details

  • Position / Title — Their job title.
  • Deal Value — Estimated deal value in your default currency.
  • Expected Close Date — When you expect to close this opportunity.
  • Lead Score — Auto-calculated but can be manually adjusted.

Address

Street, City, State, ZIP Code, Country — all optional. Useful for location-based filtering and reporting.

Custom Fields

Any custom fields you have created in Settings → Custom Fields appear here. Fill them in as needed.

What Happens After You Save

  • The lead appears in your Leads list.
  • A timeline entry is automatically created: 'Lead created by [Your Name]'.
  • If you are assigned as Owner, you will see it in your Leads filter.
  • The lead is immediately available for campaigns, automation rules, and reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a lead and a contact in Vedain?

A lead is an unqualified prospect you are evaluating. A contact is a qualified person with whom you have an established relationship, typically associated with an account. When a lead is qualified, you can convert them to a contact and deal.

Can I add a lead without an email address?

Yes. Only First Name (or Full Name) is required by default. However, you cannot send email campaigns to leads without an email address.

How do I add multiple phone numbers for one lead?

Use the Phone field for the primary number and the Mobile field for a secondary number. You can also create a custom field of type Text for additional numbers.

Can I attach files to a lead when creating it?

You can attach files after saving the lead. Open the lead detail page, scroll to the Attachments section, and upload files. Supported formats include PDF, DOCX, XLSX, images, and more.
