How to Configure Tax Settings (GST, VAT, Sales Tax) in Vedain CRM

Vedain CRM·18-Jun-2026·4 min read

Setting up tax correctly in Vedain ensures your invoices show the right tax amounts, the right labels, and your company's tax ID — all automatically. Vedain includes one-click presets for India GST, UAE VAT, US, and EU VAT.

How to Configure Tax

  1. Go to Settings → Tax & Billing.
  2. Choose a Quick Preset or set a custom rate.

Quick Presets

  • India GST 18% — Sets up 18% GST split as CGST 9% + SGST 9% on invoices. Tax ID label becomes 'GSTIN'.
  • UAE VAT 5% — Sets 5% VAT. Tax ID label becomes 'TRN'.
  • US (No Tax) — No tax applied by default. Tax ID label becomes 'EIN'.
  • EU VAT — Sets 20% VAT (customisable per country). Tax ID label becomes 'VAT Number'.

Custom Tax Rate

If your rate does not match a preset, select Custom and enter:

  • Tax Rate (%) — Your applicable rate.
  • Tax Name — What appears on the invoice (e.g., 'GST', 'VAT', 'Sales Tax').
  • Tax ID Label — The label shown next to your company tax ID (e.g., 'GSTIN', 'VAT No', 'Tax ID').
  • Your Tax ID Number — Your company's actual tax registration number, shown on all invoices.

Use the Invoice Notes field to add standard text that appears on every invoice — typically payment terms, bank account details for NEFT/IMPS transfers, or a late payment policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply different tax rates to different products?

Yes. When creating products in Settings → Products, each product can have its own tax rate. This overrides the global tax setting for that product on invoices.

How do I show CGST and SGST breakdown (not just total GST) on invoices?

Select the India GST 18% preset. Vedain automatically splits the GST and shows it as CGST 9% and SGST 9% on the invoice line items — which is required for GST-compliant invoices in India.

Can I have both a state tax and a federal tax on the same invoice?

Currently Vedain supports one tax rate per line item. For combined tax scenarios (e.g., state + federal in the US), use a custom rate that represents the combined total and note the breakdown in the invoice notes.
