Who each tool is built for
Tidio is a live chat and customer service tool. It is well known, the product is polished, and its free plan is a genuine way to start. Small online shops and service firms often begin there because they can add a chat box in an afternoon and pay nothing. As volume grows, Tidio offers paid plans, the Lyro AI add-on and a Flows add-on for automation. Its contacts list records who has chatted, and teams that need deals and a pipeline connect Tidio to a separate CRM. It suits teams that mainly want to answer questions and support customers.
Vedain starts from the other end. It is a CRM first, with leads, contacts, accounts, deals, email inbox sync, campaigns, workflows and reports. Website live chat and an AI assistant are built into the same product and the same per-user price. So the real question is not which chat box looks better. It is whether you want a chat tool that feeds another system, or a CRM where chat is one way leads arrive. If your sales already live in a CRM you like, Tidio may slot in neatly. If not, one product may save you work.
Pricing models in depth
The two products charge in different ways, so a straight price-to-price comparison can mislead. Tidio prices per workspace. Each plan includes a set number of billable conversations a month, and AI answers and automation flows are sold as add-ons. Vedain prices per person. Each CRM user gets the whole CRM, live chat and AI answers for $10 a month, while people who only answer chats and support tickets take agent seats: one free per CRM seat, up to three per workspace, then $5 each a month. There are no per-conversation or per-resolution AI fees. Tidio's bill tends to move with chat volume, while Vedain's moves with head count, and only slowly for chat-only agents. A busy site run by one person, or a small chat team, may find Vedain's pricing cheaper. Neither model is wrong; you need to price your own situation.
- Tidio plans: Free $0 (50 conversations, Tidio branding); Starter $29 a month, or $24.17 billed annually (100 conversations); Growth from $59 a month (250 to 2,000 conversations); Plus from $300 a month plus usage; Premium on request.
- Tidio add-ons: Lyro AI from $39 a month for 50 Lyro conversations, scaling to 1,000; Flows $29 a month.
- Vedain: $10 per CRM user a month (₹500 or AED 25), with live chat and AI answers included; chat-and-support-only agents take agent seats, one free per CRM seat (up to three) and then $5 (₹200 or AED 15) each a month. GST applies to Indian billing.
A worked monthly example
Here is a simple comparison at September 2026 list prices, paid monthly. For Tidio we take Starter plus the entry Lyro add-on: $29 + $39 = $68 a month for the workspace, covering 100 conversations and 50 AI conversations. Because Tidio charges per workspace, that figure does not change with team size in these list prices. For Vedain we show two cases: one admin on a full $10 seat with everyone else answering chats on agent seats (one free per CRM seat, so one free agent here, then $5 each), and everyone on a full CRM seat at $10. If your volume goes beyond those limits, Tidio's price rises. If you do not need AI at all, Tidio Free ($0) is cheaper than Vedain for any team, and Tidio Starter alone ($29) is cheaper once three or more people need full CRM seats.
| Team size | Vedain, 1 admin + chat-only agents | Vedain, all on full CRM seats | Tidio Starter + Lyro | Tidio Starter + Lyro + Flows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $10 (the admin) | 1 × $10 = $10 | $29 + $39 = $68 | $68 + $29 = $97 |
| 3 people | $10 + 1 free + 1 × $5 = $15 | 3 × $10 = $30 | $29 + $39 = $68 | $68 + $29 = $97 |
| 5 people | $10 + 1 free + 3 × $5 = $25 | 5 × $10 = $50 | $29 + $39 = $68 | $68 + $29 = $97 |
AI answers: Lyro add-on versus included
Tidio's AI agent, Lyro, is sold as an add-on, starting at $39 a month for 50 Lyro conversations and scaling to 1,000. Each account gets 50 free Lyro conversations once, which is a fair way to test it, and on Premium Lyro is billed per resolution. Reviewers mention that the add-on pricing can feel complex and expensive as volume grows, so model your likely usage first. In Vedain, AI answers are part of every plan, for full seats and agent seats alike, so there is no separate AI meter to watch.
You train Vedain's assistant with Generate from website, which reads your homepage and up to eight key pages such as pricing, FAQ, help and policies. You can also upload PDF, Word, text or Markdown files up to 7.5 MB, and type up to 60,000 characters of notes. The assistant answers only from that knowledge, says when it is not sure, and does not invent prices or policies. It hands over to a person when a visitor asks for a human or needs help it cannot give, and you can add your own hand-off phrases.
- Qualification: the AI asks up to five questions you choose, such as team size, budget or timeline, and writes the answers onto the lead.
- Improvement: a most-asked list of questions the AI could not answer, plus a Resolved by AI rate.
From chat to lead: contacts list or full pipeline
Tidio keeps a contacts list of the people who chat with you. It does not include deals or a sales pipeline, so teams that need those connect Tidio to a CRM through an integration. That works well if the integration is set up with care, but it means two systems, two sets of settings and a sync to watch. For a team that already has a CRM it trusts, this is often fine. For a team without one, it is an extra purchase and an extra set-up job.
In Vedain, the chat and the CRM are one system. A lead is created as soon as the visitor gives an email, in the pre-chat form or typed into the chat. If the email matches an existing lead or contact, Vedain links the chat to that record instead of making a duplicate. The source is recorded as Chat Widget, and each conversation appears on the lead's Activity timeline. From there the lead can move into a deal, receive email from your synced Gmail or Outlook inbox, join a campaign or become a Support Desk ticket.
After-hours and missed chats
Most small teams cannot watch the chat all day, so what happens when nobody is online matters. In Vedain you set business hours with a timezone and working days. Outside those hours the AI keeps answering by default, but it never promises a live reply. If a visitor wants a person, it asks for their email, and your team gets one follow-up alert for that chat. During working hours, hand-off alerts go to the assigned agent, the round-robin pool or the admins, plus any alert email addresses you add.
If nobody replies within five minutes, admins and managers are alerted. A chat still unanswered after 30 minutes is marked as missed, and that shows on the lead's timeline so gaps are easy to spot and someone can follow up. One honest limit: Vedain has no native mobile app for agents. Your team replies from a browser, on a laptop or a phone. Agents stay available while they work anywhere in Vedain, and email alerts help, but if your team relies on a phone app, weigh this before you switch.
Set-up, install and privacy
Vedain installs with one line of asynchronous script, so it does not hold up page loading. There is a WordPress plugin, and step-by-step guides for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow and more. The Setup Assistant confirms when the widget is live. You can set your logo, colour, greeting, launcher text and left or right position. The pre-chat form can show or require name, email and phone, plus one custom question. On phones the widget opens full screen, and returning visitors can resume their chat within 24 hours. Inputs use 16px text, so they are easy to type in.
The privacy settings are practical. You can link your own privacy policy on the chat form. The widget font is served by Vedain, so there is no request to Google Fonts. A cookie-consent mode stores nothing in the visitor's browser until they open the chat, and closed chats can be deleted automatically after 30, 90, 180 or 365 days. For developers, there is a small JavaScript API and signed, retried webhooks for chat started, resolved and missed, which also work with Zapier. Check these settings against your own policy.
Moving from Tidio to Vedain
A move is usually a short project. Start the 14-day free trial, which needs no card, and set up in parallel before you touch your live site. If you rely on Tidio's Flows, plan for that change: Vedain has no no-code chatbot flow builder for the widget. It uses AI answers, qualification questions, up to five action buttons such as Book a demo, and proactive messages set by delay and page URL. For many small teams that covers the same ground, but check your existing flows one by one. Keep the Tidio widget running until the Vedain one is tested.
- Step 1: export your Tidio contacts as a CSV file and import it into Vedain as leads or contacts.
- Step 2: rebuild AI knowledge with Generate from website, upload help documents and policies, and review the answers.
- Step 3: set business hours, routing, canned replies and alert addresses.
- Step 4: replace the Tidio script with the Vedain script or plugin, and wait for the Setup Assistant to confirm it is live.
- Step 5: in the first week, check the unanswered-questions list and the Resolved by AI rate, and fill the gaps.
A buyer's checklist
Before you choose, write down a few numbers and must-haves. It takes ten minutes and can save a wrong purchase. Use last quarter's real chat numbers, not a hopeful guess. Vedain is newer and smaller than Tidio and has no public review-site ratings to quote yet, so if a long track record matters most, that counts in Tidio's favour. If one price for chat, AI and a full CRM matters most, Vedain is worth a trial.
- Volume and team: how many chats a month, and how many people need to reply or use the CRM?
- Sales process: do you already have a CRM you like, or do you need deals and a pipeline too?
- Channels and apps: Vedain has no Instagram or Messenger inbox yet and no large app marketplace.
- Free start: after Vedain's trial the widget stays free with AI answers for up to 100 conversations a month, and chats are still saved as leads.
