Two ways to run a bulk check
Email Verification can check addresses you already hold and addresses you don’t yet. Both run from Email Verification in the sidebar, and both run on Vedain’s servers so you can close the tab and come back.
- •Your leads & contacts — verifies the addresses already in your CRM. Results are written onto each record for filtering and campaigns.
- •Check a list — verifies an uploaded file before you import it, for example a list from an event or a vendor.
Neither sends an email to anyone. The quick, free syntax/domain/typo checks run first; the paid mailbox check only runs for addresses that need a definite answer. For the free-vs-paid split and the quick-check reasons, see Quick check vs Mailbox verification.
Verify your leads and contacts
- Open the Mailbox verification panel and read the Your leads & contacts line. It shows how many addresses haven’t been checked recently, the price per billable result and the most the job could cost.
- Optional: set a Spending cap so the job stops once it has spent that much.
- Click Verify mailboxes, then Yes, check.
- The job runs in the background. Its row shows progress, the amount spent so far, and a live count for each result. Click Stop to cancel a running job.
Results are saved on each lead and contact as they come in — the fields mailboxStatus, mailboxReason and mailboxCheckedAt — so you can filter and build campaign audiences on them without waiting for the whole job to finish. Only one mailbox job runs at a time, so finish or stop the current one before starting another.
Check an uploaded list
- Under Check a list, click Upload list and choose a .csv, .txt or .xlsx file. Limits are 25 MB and 200,000 addresses per file.
- Vedain finds the email addresses in any column, answers misspelt, throwaway and dead-domain addresses for free, and shows how many addresses were found, the maximum cost and roughly how long the check will take before you start. Click Remove to pick a different file.
- Click Verify list, then Yes, check followed by your file name.
- You can download results so far while the job runs; large lists email you when they finish. When it ends, click CSV on its row to download a result for every address.
Uploaded-list results are returned in the download and don’t touch your CRM records, so a vendor list you’re still evaluating never pollutes your leads until you choose to import it.
What each result means
Every mailbox check returns one of four verdicts. Only a definite yes or no (valid or invalid) is charged — catch-all and unknown results are always free.
| Result | Meaning | Charged? |
|---|---|---|
| Mailbox exists (valid) | The mail server confirmed the exact inbox would accept mail. | Yes |
| Does not exist (invalid) | The server said there is no such inbox. The record is marked invalid and campaigns skip it. | Yes |
| Catch-all domain | The domain accepts every address, so a single inbox can’t be confirmed. Treat with care. | No |
| Unknown | The server wouldn’t give a clear answer — some providers, such as Yahoo, never do. | No |
A catch-all isn’t a dead address — it means the domain can’t prove the specific inbox either way, so a human should judge whether to send, and it is never charged. An unknown is simply unresolved; Vedain retries it before giving up, and never charges you for it either.
Recent results are reused rather than re-checked: valid for 60 days, invalid for 90 days and catch-all for 30 days. The estimate only counts addresses that haven’t been checked within those windows, so running a list twice in a week costs little or nothing the second time.
Why large batches take hours
Checks run from Vedain’s own dedicated verification server. Gmail, Microsoft and corporate mail servers dislike being asked thousands of questions at once, so Vedain paces its requests to each provider to protect the verifier’s reputation and keep answers accurate. A few hundred addresses finish in minutes; tens of thousands can take several hours. When a server asks Vedain to slow down, checks to that provider pause for up to an hour and the panel tells you; addresses a server won’t answer yet are retried with growing gaps for up to seven days before they are marked unknown.
Use the results as a deliverability guard
Verification is only worth it if your sends act on it, so campaigns read these results automatically:
- •Invalid addresses are skipped by default — they would bounce and damage your reputation.
- •Risky addresses (typos, disposable, role inboxes, people who have left) can be skipped too; you choose per campaign.
- •Valid and unknown addresses are sent to as normal unless you decide otherwise.
The guard can be set to skip invalid only, skip risky as well, or be turned off for a particular send. Because the verdicts live on the record, they also work in list filters — for example, build a segment of “valid work emails in the UAE” in one view.
Free checks and the wallet
Mailbox checks cost about ₹0.40 / $0.005 / AED 0.02 per billable result — a valid or invalid answer; catch-all and unknown are free — so roughly ₹4,000 or $50 for 10,000 billable results, paid from the same Vedain wallet as AI enrichment under Billing → Credits. Every new workspace gets 50 free mailbox checks, shown in the panel and used before your wallet is charged, and existing customers received a one-time launch credit. The free, unlimited quick check needs no wallet at all.
